Here's How You Deal With Super PACs

This is important. We're all in this together.

Hi Friend,

Anna Kellar is the Executive Director of Democracy Maine, a hybrid organization that brings together the League of Women Voters of Maine, Maine Citizens for Clean Elections, and Maine Students Vote. In this 11-minute video, Kellar explains what Maine has done to rein in Super PACs, which are such a poisonous influence on elections elsewhere.

While there are serious limits on what an individual can pay to an electoral candidate's campaign, a political action committee called a Super PAC can spend unlimited money promoting a candidate and can take unlimited money from individuals -- or can in most states, but not any longer in Maine.

The people of the state of Maine have voted overwhelmingly to limit the amount of money an individual can give to a Super PAC.
