Time to Finally Ban All Slavery

Hi Friends,

Seventeen U.S. states plus Washington D.C. allow slavery, most of them as punishment for crime, as in the Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Colorado amended its Constitution to outlaw slavery in 2018, as did Nebraska and Utah in 2020, and Oregon, Alabama, Tennessee, and Vermont in 2022, and Nevada in 2024.

But these places, still today, need their laws -- at long last -- changed to ban slavery: Arkansas, California, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Washington DC.

Click here to email your state legislators and governor now.

The failure of your state to fully ban slavery is shameful, and we cannot go on pretending it is unintentional.
