862,000 years to earn what one guy gets in an hour
Hi Friends,
One day, a couple of weeks ago, corporate media baron Larry Ellison "earned" $100 billion. It's unknown what actual work he did, on that or any other days. But, let's say, for the sake of argument, that he worked 8 hours that day. That would amount to what working people call a wage of $12.5 billion per hour. That's a bit more than the U.S. federal minimum wage of $7.25. In fact, you'd have to work over 862,000 years full-time at that minimum wage to get paid what Ellison got in one hour that day.
The problem we have before us is not a lack of money.
RootsAction is trying to get all 50 states to raise the minimum wage to at least $15, and to index the amount to automatically increase with the cost of living in future years.

Some states have a good minimum wage but no indexing, so that the wage's value cannot be counted on to last. Other states have indexing, but have the wage set too low. And yet other states have neither.

Find out where your state stands and do something about it.
