The state of California has now legislated a ban on mask-wearing by ICE agents -- something that RootsAction and many others had been pushing for. Which state will be second, and how long will it take us to get to 50?

 

Trump is using the so-called National Guard to stir up trouble in more cities, including Chicago and Portland. (Federal government shutdowns typically only shut down useful parts of the government.) Members of the National Guard don't like what they're being told to do and should be encouraged to disobey illegal orders. State governments should be making clear their protection for those who refuse deployment against the United States.

 

Trump's invasion of Portland follows a Fox News "report" that pretended videos from 5 years ago were new, and comments from Trump that he would "wipe out" protesters. The state of Oregon is suing, but courts alone will not save us.

 

Increased strategic nonviolent resistance to military occupations -- from Palestine to Portland -- will be needed.

 

Today, Trump made clear what he is up to, saying, "We should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military."
