Wow -- to live in Cori Bush's district

Hi Friends,

We recently sent the email below nationwide. We want to reach out in particular now to you lucky ones who live in the district that could once again be represented in Congress by Cori Bush (something many of us in most of the country can envy).

It won't happen without work. And the work won't happen without funding.

Can you volunteer for Cori Bush's campaign?

Cori Bush has just entered the race for her former seat in Congress!

From 2021 to 2025, Cori Bush represented Missouri's first congressional district. In many ways, she represented most of the rest of the nation as well -- those of us with Congressional delegations unwilling to strongly challenge militarism or corporate oligarchy.

Bush brought not just stronger positions but also new tactics to Capitol Hill, staging sit-ins and sleep-ins, one of which saved countless families from eviction.

In 2024 Bush was defeated by right-wing and AIPAC money that flooded into a Democratic Party primary.

There are now reasons to hope that AIPAC's powers are waning, and that Bush will prove to have simply been against genocide too soon for some people.

Please make one of the first donations to Cori Bush's campaign and help support RootsAction here.

We supported Cori Bush from the beginning and, for once, were not disappointed. She kept her promises and worked for a truly progressive agenda without fear or favor.

Cori Bush is speaking up more strongly right now on the government shutdown, and in support of Palestinians in Gaza, than are most current Congress members.

This is how the St. Louis American remembers one of Bush's actions when she was in Washington:

"Bush led a sleep-in on the U.S. Capitol steps to protest the end of the pandemic-era eviction moratorium. The House of Representatives had gone into recess without acting and the President insisted that he could do nothing. Bush, drawing on personal experience with homelessness, said she would keep fighting to prevent people from losing their homes. Some dismissed her actions as a stunt. But, after Bush camped outside for nearly four days, the President announced that his administration would extend the moratorium for another two months. (It lasted slightly less than that before the Supreme Court struck it down.) We may never know exactly how many people were spared from eviction and homelessness as a result."

Let's send Cori Bush back to Congress!
