Don't allow Trump to get away with death threats

Hi Friends,

Trump is now proposing executions for Congress Members who remind military personnel that one should disobey illegal orders.

At the same time, Trump's most dangerous official illegal order (National Security Presidential Memorandum 7) proposes to shred the Constitution in order to prevent "political violence."

Even as NSPM-7 threatens to shut down organizations like RootsAction, we believe that we must push back hard.

Click here to tell Congress to undo this royal decree through actual legislation.

In his memo, Trump (who has incited violence at his own campaign rallies) claims to oppose political violence, including "riots" in Los Angeles and Portland. Protests in Los Angeles were created by Trump's own actions, sending military troops into a U.S. city -- and Trump's beliefs about Portland were created by Fox News airing five-year-old video and convincing Trump it was new.

On Thursday, a federal judge ruled that Trump's ordering the "National Guard" into D.C. was illegal.

To address the alleged wave of "political violence," Trump has ordered the investigation and prosecution of any individuals or organizations who might be labeled anti-fascist, regardless of whether any actual crimes have been committed -- targeting those suspected of "anti-Americanism," "anti-capitalism," "anti-Christianity," "hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family," and so forth.

The National Council of Nonprofits says:
"This action . . . is a blatant attack on one of the core principles of our democracy, the freedom of speech. This rhetoric and action undermines the lifesaving work of millions of nonprofit staff and volunteers and puts them at risk."

Maybe with their deaths being threatened by the president, Congress Members will finally do something about Trump's dangerous decree.

At RootsAction we refuse to be silenced or cowed into submission. We defend the right of people to speak and advocate for things we agree with and things we disagree with, when their actions are nonviolent and legal under the U.S. Constitution.

If you want to help us be more effective in undoing Trump's assaults on democracy and free speech, donate what you can.
