As you might know, there is a Democratic Party primary election coming up in North Carolina’s 4th district on Tuesday, March 3rd. What you might not know is that this will be a competitive election between the political establishment’s pick, Valerie Foushee, and a progressive rising star, NIDA ALLAM.

At RootsAction, we are enthusiastically backing Nida in her bid for the 4th district seat. Nida Allam is a fighter for working people and she opposes militarism abroad and state violence here in the U.S. She has already proved her mettle on the Durham County Board of Commissioners and would be among the best members of Congress if elected.

North Carolina allows early voting by mail or in-person beginning on February 12th. You can learn more about early voting here or request a mail-in ballot here.

The political establishment does not want Nida to win; they would prefer to keep pesky progressives away from the levers of power. That’s why we need everyone who cares about seriously fighting Trumpism and winning victories for working people to come out and vote for Nida in the primary!

2026 is going to be an incredibly consequential election year. Not only must we beat back Trump’s authoritarian politics, we also need to make sure progressives win as many seats as possible in the next Congress.
