Impossible last week. Possible this week.

Last week, a RootsAction initiative launched an outcry calling for House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries to step aside. More than 5,000 constituent emails quickly went to Democrats in Congress, urging them to replace Rep. Jeffries and Sen. Chuck Schumer because of their failure to provide real leadership against the war-crazed Trump administration.
Five days later, Axios reported that Jeffries “could get caught in the undertow of the very blue wave he hopes to ride into power this November as a growing number of Democratic candidates tell Axios they can't commit to backing his leadership.”
We want to say thank you to the thousands of RootsAction supporters who stepped up last week. If you’re one of them, you might want to send a follow-up message to congressional Democrats. And if you didn’t have a chance to send a message last week, you can do it now.

A week ago, skeptics were telling our RootsAction team that it would be unrealistic to challenge Jeffries’s “leadership.” Now, it’s becoming conventional wisdom that Jeffries could be toppled from his post as the leader of House Democrats.
