No Kings - No Wars - No Exceptions

Hi Friends,

The warnings pre-existed the problem. James Madison wrote that "war is in fact the true nurse of executive aggrandizement. . . . In war, the public treasures are to be unlocked; and it is the executive hand which is to dispense them."

The problem -- the shifting of power from Congress to the executive branch, and the accompanying growth of a war machine -- has only increased for centuries.

The solution -- not just the removal of Trump from office, but the shifting of power to Congress and beyond Congress to the public -- begins with organizing a movement.

Congress is feeling our pressure on Iran and just might find the decency to vote down any funding for this latest war. But they have to hear from us again and again.

Tell Congress to end the war!

And let’s remember the words of Congressman Abraham Lincoln in 1848, when he opposed the Mexican-American War: "Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object. This, our convention understood to be the most oppressive of all kingly oppressions and they resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us."
