Your state, too, can stop corporations funding elections
Hi Friends,
Hawaii has done something terrific, and your state can do the same.
Under a new law in Hawaii, corporations doing business in Hawaii do not have the power to engage in local, state, or federal political campaigns. A range of penalties can be imposed on corporate violators: removing tax privileges, banning the sale of its products to the state government, suspending its ability to do business in the state, or ordering its dissolution.
In at least 14 other states, bills have been introduced. And in one, Montana, people are working to put this proposal on the ballot in November.

This basic step for the protection of elections can and must be taken by every state. Hawaii has stepped forward and we have a responsibility to be standing there too, side by side with Hawaii, which is likely to face threats from corporations and challenges in courts.
