Senator Chuck Schumer has demanded that Trump be tougher and not "chicken out" against Iran and China. He has not done what he should have done to prevent war on Gaza, Venezuela, Iran, Lebanon, or the threats to Cuba -- or to put an end to the outrages committed by ICE. Schumer cannot be trusted to effectively oppose the transfer of an additional half a trillion dollars a year into the war machine, much less to reduce the Pentagon budget.

Schumer's failure to support inspiring candidates like Zohran Mamdani is part and parcel of his failure to inspire political engagement himself.

It’s time for Senate Democrats to replace Schumer with a leader who is willing and able to challenge the runaway militarism and corporatism of Trump and his followers.
