How does your state's minimum wage compare?

Hi Friends,

Wars spread democracy! Tax cuts for billionaires trickle down to us! Climate change is a hoax! Activism never accomplished anything! Trump loves you!

Sometimes lies are debunked but go on walking the Earth as zombies for eternity. Here are a few more:

  • Minimum wages cause unemployment.
  • Minimum wages cause inflation.
  • Minimum wages cause poverty.
  • Minimum wages cause businesses to close or relocate.
  • Corporate-funded opponents of all kinds of rights for workers who say these things about minimum wages really mean well.

No honest scholar has taken such bunk seriously for generations. Read a debunking here.

The truth is that paying people more money does just what it sounds like: it allows them to have more money with which to pay their bills.

RootsAction is trying to get all 50 states to raise the minimum wage to at least $15, and to index the amount to automatically increase with the cost of living in future years.

Click here to email your state legislators and governor.

Some states have a good minimum wage but no indexing, so that the wage's value cannot be counted on to last. Other states have indexing, but have the wage set too low. And yet other states have neither.

Find out where your state stands and do something about it.

After taking this action, please use the tools on the next webpage to share it with your friends.
