PA limits data centers: your state can too

Hi Friends,

On August 18, Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro signed an executive order placing much needed limits on new data center projects.

There’s lots of good stuff here. The order requires developers to meet the Governor’s Responsible Infrastructure Development (GRID) requirements and have received local approval before permit applications for new data center projects can be reviewed. It removes all AI data center proposals from the state’s fast-track permitting process and prohibits the use of nondisclosure agreements, which have been used to prevent communities from learning basic facts about data center projects in their backyards.

But, while this is a step in the right direction, executive orders rise and fall at the behest of executives. We need even stronger legislative limits on irresponsible data center development.

Take action now to demand lasting limits on data center development.
