Burning down our house

Hi Friends,

While politicians who used to demand a Green New Deal have apparently been persuaded never to say those words, U.S. forests are burning down1, rivers are drying up2, droughts are reducing food supplies3, wars over fossil fuels are contributing to climate collapse4, a drier world sees diseases spreading5, we have a shortage of firefighters6, and Trump is trying to cut down national forests before they have a chance to burn.7

In further bad news, a poll has found that people who've experienced climate disasters do not snap out of a stupor and organize mass-activism, but instead become more likely than ever to declare themselves powerless.8

However, renewable energy is mushrooming. No longer can anyone claim it is more expensive or more difficult. It is overwhelmingly and obviously the choice for anyone not paid to pretend otherwise.9 Our effort to advance plug-in solar at the state level is succeeding. And it takes only a few words from a friend to make someone realize how much power we have to change things when we choose to use it.

Email Congress here as many times as you can!

Thousands have already died in Europe this summer from climate-change-driven heat; hundreds of thousands have suffered that fate globally since 2000 including at least 20,000 in the United States; and this suffering and death from predictable and predicted heat increases doesn't even include the suffering and deaths from increasingly violent storms and so-called natural disasters also driven by climate change.

In addition to emailing Congress at the link above, you can phone your representative's and senators' offices at this number (all you have to know is your address and what you want your Congress members to do):
