Spy cameras are automatically photographing our license plates and recording times and places. Police have made false arrests on the basis of this evidence¹ — and both police and camera company employees have misused the technology, even using the cameras to stalk ex-lovers.² We've never consented to this gross violation of our Fourth Amendment right not to be spied on without a warrant.

Localities are ceasing to use these cameras in response to public outrage. Even some states are restricting their use or the use of the data collected. But these restrictions are often violated, including by giving the data to ICE.³
