Trump Is Not Giving You Money

Hi Friends,

Will Trump someday actually send a check to every adult in the United States for $5000? That promise should sit beside the ones about ending the war in Ukraine on Day 1 and winning so much you'll be tired of winning.

But, even if he did it, it would be a scam. Trump is already taking much more money than that from us, per adult, to fund his drastically increased spending on wars, weapons, and all things military. If he (and Congress) were to give some of it back, he would either increase the debt, further slash non-war spending, or some combination of the two. He's not going to tax the wealthy.

Click here — as we mark 25 years of extreme military madness — to tell Congress to reject Trump's military spending proposal.

The fact that the U.S. government can create vast piles of wealth out of thin air whenever there's a Wall Street bail out, Pentagon spending spree, or criminal attempt to bribe voters, exposes the lie that we cannot afford good things.

To pay 270 million adults $5000 each would cost $1.35 trillion. That's less than what Trump has proposed for the military budget, but vastly more than what remains for everything else in the federal discretionary budget, and vastly more than things we don't dare dream of and could never create as individuals.

We could make college free for about $75 billion a year, preschool for $35 billion, and provide housing to everyone who lacks it for $29 billion a year. We could hire 100,000 people at $100,000 a year to work on what’s needed most, costing us a total of $10 billion. We could end hunger on Earth for $93 billion a year. We could provide solar power to every house in the United States over 10 years for $120 billion each year. We could build 1,000 miles of high-speed rail each year for perhaps (depending how efficiently and where it’s done, of course) $200 billion.

And we're not supposed to say the words "Green New Deal"?
