This Constitution Day, Impeach Trump

Hi Friends,

"AI companies really have unleashed a killer monster that has slipped their control. But plot twist - the monster is human. And it's the President of the United States." —Naomi Klein

The tech oligarchs wanted Trump so they could run wild. Now they want him to regulate them and he refuses. Others wanted him to run roughshod over norms and laws in various fields, and now he's making Republicans pledge to cheat on elections, he's murdering fishermen, and he's locking in the endless wars that he was supposed to end — while proliferating weapons from dictatorships on Earth to outerspace.

One of the primary means by which Trump is making life harder for everyone he was supposed to be helping is by focusing his efforts on exploiting public wealth to enrich himself and his cronies.

A more impeachable person has never lived.

RootsAction published a long list of Trump's impeachable offenses during his first term, and there are 13 in H.Res. 1155, which you can tell your representative to cosponsor here.

Happy Constitution Day!

The Constitution is shorter than a Trump speech. Not a lot of things are mentioned six times in the U.S. Constitution. Here's one thing that is:

1. The House of Representatives shall chuse their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.

2. The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments.

3. Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

4. [H]e shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

5. The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

6. The Trial of all Crimes, except in Cases of Impeachment; shall be by Jury. . . .

Has Congress forgotten?

In addition to emailing Congress at the link above, you can phone your representative's and senators' offices at this number (all you have to know is your address and what you want your Congress members to do):
