Something surprising happened on the way to Trump giving 40,000 more 2,000-pound bombs to Israel.

Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Representative Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) stopped him — at least temporarily.

We need to make sure this sticks. For this shipment and any possible future shipments of weapons to Israel.

Think about Congressman Meeks' comment:

“The Trump administration has not provided sufficient assurances that these weapons will be used by the Netanyahu government in accordance with U.S. law and with appropriate protections for civilians. I therefore will not clear this sale at this time.”

Now try to imagine dropping 2,000-pound bombs "with appropriate protections for civilians" and with no violations of human rights. By keeping open the pretense that such a thing can be done, Meeks is keeping open the possibility of reversing himself — something his funders and media outlets and lobbyists will be pressuring him to do.

Make sure Congress is hearing more from us than from genocide supporters.
